Post comment bot?

Today i recieved this PM from one of my best friends on youtube.

As you've noticed ALL my comments are being marked as spam. This is more a serious issue than I at first thought. At first I thought somebody was just following me around marking them, but I've closed every sharing option and took down my comments view, and its still happening. I now suspect it's a bot. I ran into this video:

http://blog.leagueofreason.co.uk/youtub ... t-bombers/

And that you are a member of the League I'm wondering if you can find anything about it for me. Feel free to give the creator my Channel name and even my Email if necessary if there is anything that can be done. I REALLY hate to have to abandon my channel but right now making any comments is just useless. I mean I posted on an old video that was totally unrelated to where I was an that still got marked as spam. There is no way anybody should have followed me there. I wanted to report it but there is no option for this.

I'm at wits end, I hate to let this defeat me after all I've been through, I mean I've taken on full fledged Nazis and now some little slavery loving Neo-confederate twerp is going to ruin my channel?

Any thing you can think of will be appreciated, I'm even looking for my own bot to retaliate if all else fails...

The thing is this comment bot is targeting his comments and his comments only, other comments posted by other users seem to be fine. Im not sure if this type of comment bot has been encountered before. Any help anyone?

I have noticed this same phenomenon with comments on creationists' videos. I thought it was unusual that only one or two users' comments were being marked as spam.

I hope there is something that can be done about this. However, in the mean time, perhaps you can invite your friend to start posting here; there is no censorship around these parts. Perhaps they can turn their comments into a large blog post and become a contributor here.

very Interesting. So even if one of these victims decides to post a comment on some video unrelated to those creationism videos, that commment will still be marked as spam?

I am not sure about that, because I have not followed the user to other videos to see. However, all the comments I find from them left on creationists' videos are marked as spam. I just find it stange that someone would go through and only mark one user's comments as spam and leave the other ones alone. A bot doing this makes more sense.

I am the friend of the eminent and knowledgeable TYH who has been experiencing this problem. I am a brand new member here now, and have posted on this thread today so as to be better able to keep apace of developments in this area. I know I probably should have joined earlier, and was offered the opportunity previously; until this moment though, most of my attention was focused on UTube so as to address more of the general public. Any ideas will be appreciated.
And thank you TYH, you are the best as always.

Well; if there is a way to check that what i said is indeed the case, than i guess it may be wise for you to do some following. I dearly would like a confirmation/refutation of my suspicion, which is that we are dealing with the same type of bot, or that the bot which you are describing, and the bot Rundstedt1 is currently suffering from are related.

Thank you for your kindest regards.

As far as i see it at this stage we have to try and figure out the exact nature of what we are dealing with here really before trying to figure out what can be properly done about it. I wish i was more of a tech-wizard, and i wish there was something akin to "Tubeguardian" for these sort of bots, but im not sure if there is or if there is some kind of extension that deals exclusively with protecting ones youtube comments.

At least there is plenty of cake in the chat while you're here :)

Post Re: comment bot?

My latest comments are not being marked...at least not yet. I sent out two sets of comments, one 24 and one twelve hours ago. For the first time in about a week both sets have not been marked as spam with a couple of hours.
Maybe whoever was doing it just gave up, maybe somebody turned off the 'bot', or maybe Utube made some sort of change. But unfortunately concerning the last option, as far as I can tell, it looks like it's still effecting others. And from what I can ascertain from speaking with another effected user, and looking at the other science based account that I know was also effected, even totally innocuous comments on unrelated videos are affected and marked, as it was the case for me.

All I can do for the moment is keep watch when I post, and check the other effected channels I know about from time to time, in order to see what develops.

I just received confirmation that the YouTube user odinata is under the same "bot" attack as Rundstedt1.

try and get him to post here, if you can. Also i take it there has to be a solution to this problem, aside from laying low.

Post Re: comment bot?

To update this thread it seems my friend could be being stalked. This is from a message i recieved on May 10th

rundstedt1 wrote:Recently my comments again had were being marked as spam. But as of today the last couple of comments I made have been up for 9 hours without assualt, so maybe I have another respite form it. I really wouldn't care if it were on only a particular video or so, but what bugs me is the apparent ability of whoever is doing it to follow me where ever I go.

I've invited him to post more in LoR and in this thread, whether or not he takes my offer up we shall see. Im hoping that he will anyways
