I'm more worried about the 32 bit signed int epoch (January 18, 2038 @ 10:14:07 PM GMT). At that point, computers still using the UNIX standard 32 bit signed int for storing dates relative to the UNIX epoch (Dec 31, 1969, 11:59:59 pm) will roll over, resulting in another Y2K like scare.

Mind you, I'm not worried about the computers failing. They'll have been upgraded by then, even if it's another rush-by-morons during 2037. I'm worried about the renewed "Oh my god we're gonna die!" bullshit that we faced in 1999, and are facing now.

Seriously. Would survivalists keep their interest in it for very long if not for this level of stupid?

Regarding the old Y2K scare, I remember back in '99 a ton of suppliers contacting me by sending out 'Y2K Compliance' forms, which had a number of questions regarding the situation.

On each of the forms I stated that I had done all these checks back in 1997, and why were they so far behind? Regardless to say, I never received a single response.

Meanwhile, both PHP still stores timestamps via 32-bit signed int (technically, PHP stores them as its internal int value, which is machine independant, but still 32 bit). You'd think they'd know better.

Their is a possibility of the Calendar Mayan dying on that day Dec 21, 2012. In my point its about as close as the Y2K scare in 1999
