Post Distric 9, Good movie or Greatest movie?

I work at a theater and I can honestly say this and Star Trek were the best movies I've seen all summer.

Whose with me?!

2009 Star Trek > District 9. With that being said, District 9 definitely was MUCH better than I thought it would be walking into the theater. It had some little things that just made it. It's been a decent summer for sci-fi so far. It could have been an amazing one had several movies never been released though :P

I think that it's hard for me to declare a winner between both movies, they were both good in my opinion for different reasons.

That's true but, in terms of Sci-fi movies released this year, I think Star Trek is the best. District 9 definitely was well done though, I'd see it again for sure.

The term is, "great movie or greatest movie?"

Also, I've not seen District 9, however I walked out of Star Trek saying it was quite possibly the best movie I had ever seen.

The transitions didn't bother me at all. I didn't even notice them.
District 9 is a great example how you can make a decent enough sci-fi movie (with great cgi) with a modest budget and be a tremendous success. Basically they made their money back in the first weekend.

For those who haven't seen Neill Blomkamps short movie that inspired District 9, here it is. I guess Peter Jackson saw it and decided they should make a feature lenght film together.

I havent seen it yet but I will next week. Neill Blomkamps was ment to do the Halo movie together with Jackson but the studios fucked it up so they made this movie instead.

I heard this was a trial for Halo, to see if something like this could make it as a blockbuster since the Halo movie would cost like 300 million or whatever.

The weirdest movie I have ever watched, I walked out the theater felling like I was on some kind of hallucinogenic drug.
My discussions are a search for truth, and for that search to be honest, all parties involved must be open to the prospect of being wrong.
What is there to gain in guessing about that which cannot be known?

D9: Truly an odd film, but I enjoyed it a lot, look forward to a sequel.

Star Trek I've never really liked much so I didn't bother with the latest movie.

I found District 9 to be AMAZING! I was intrigued the whole time seeing it. I was curious, I actually cared what happened to the main character. It was just plain incredible.

It's a movie made to have a sequel, but somehow I'm worried it will suck.

I loved the documentary part of the movie, it was so brilliantly made, and just how well it all fit. The movie part however I didn't like as much. I didn't dislike it, it was just the typical action/sci-fi mix. All in all, it was a great movie, extremely well made.

Seriously guys, no love for moon? I've seen both, and enjoyed Moon a lot more, despite its flaws. District 9 was damn good, but I felt it divulged away from the point of the film towards the end into a general gunfest. Nothing wrong with that, but I preferred the documentary aspect by far.

District 9 will soon be in theatres in the netherlands, so im quite curious.
When watching the trailer the seemingly floating city, reminds me of the city called Tiphares fron Battle Angel alita.
