I'll probably wait awhile before playing Fallout 4. My favorite part is trying all the mods that come out eventually with Bethesda games.

Playing Fallout 4. So far, I dig it, however, there seems to be a few bugs in the Xbox One version that is somewhat annoying.

I'm still playing Minecraft.

I started making a pyramid, and... it's taking me a while to finish.

I'm thinking about FO4, but I'll probably wait for it to be on sale. I'm cheap like that, and also, less bugs by then.

Post Re: What are you playing right now?

I stumbled back onto Orcs Must Die a few days ago and forgot how playable that was. So I joined the Beta for the new version and have been playing that. I've never really played RTS type games but it seems they are trying to tie in some features of those to this one. I think they are also making it a "freemium" game so it sort of sucks to start out with unlike the originals that were extremely easy to pick up and play. As a business model it probably works better for them but I hate having to play endlessly to get perks or spend insane amounts of money. And it is insane how much "freemium" games cost if you get into them. I read a webpage that calculated the cost of buying all the items in Boom Beach and it would cost you like $10,000. Needless to say I don't have that kind of money so I've been playing that for a year now and still don't have half the items etc.

nothing really ... mostly steaming about the cancellation of Fable and the closure of Lionhead. Totally sucks. Instead of playing something - have been voting up various comments and signing petitions and feedback forms being sent to Phil Spencer.

I'm still playing the Witcher 3 at the mo.

Definitely the best game of 2015. Possibly of the decade so far...

I hope this thread still counts as "alive" or I've likely got hell to pay based on prior experience with forum sites and how people react when one bumps dead threads... :?

As of late, I've been sinking my time into Monster Hunter Generations and Metroid Prime: Federation Force.

Honestly, I can understand why most of the Metroid fanbase seemed to write off Federation Force, art direction aside. Bad timing; wasn't even announced alongside a mainstream Metroid title, and it's not in the non-linear exploration genre that Metroid helped define (or at least popularize) in the first place. That said, I really like Federation Force on its own merits. I prefer to think of this game as to Metroid what Luigi's Mansion was to Mario.

Monster Hunter Generations in many ways improves on the stuff introduced in 4 Ultimate, but there are things I think 4 Ultimate did better. The brand-new Prowler mode is pretty cool, and the hunting styles and Hunter Arts system works very well. I really miss G-Rank, though.

Zomg! Total thread res! Ban ban bannity ban ban ban!!!!!

... or not.

This is one of those "eternal threads" with long periods of time between posts, so don't worry about it. :)

Beyond that... I don't know any of those games you talk about. :(

 Oh god, that was hilarious. Anyway, good to know I haven't broken any rules already.

Well, it's not clear from the context which games I talked about you don't know, so I'll go ahead and show a trailer for all of them. :P If you already know one or more of these games, feel free to ignore their trailers.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Monster Hunter Generations
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

They're all really cool games, though Federation Force is contested by the Metroid audience at large, as far as I can tell; they're not happy with it for a few reasons I can understand.

You're building a pyramid in Minecraft? That sounds pretty awesome!

Post Re: What are you playing right now?

I was playing another game yesterday. It's actually a fan-made Flash reproduction of the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES, called Super Mario Bros. Crossover. Basically, SMB (and Lost Levels, with SMB Special thrown in) with other playable characters from around the NES days – and some that weren't, like Bass as he appeared in Mega Man 10, although since that particular game was made in the NES Mega Man style, I think he gets a pass.

As a love letter to retro gaming, I love the concept behind it, and it really puts the level design of the original SMB to the test. There are a couple of important problems, though; Adobe Flash (the hidden enemy...) causing random framerate drops for no good reason which can screw you over, and the Bullet Bill launchers were made random and nigh-unpredictable for some reason. This is not consistent with the original Super Mario Bros. – or any other Mario game that I know of, for that matter – and even if it was, it's not an actual challenge to the player; that's fake difficulty.

But whatever. I love this game well enough. I prefer to play it with a USB Super Famicom controller instead of my keyboard, so I have to use some sort of gamepad-to-key application to make that work. It's worth it, though.

I beat the game on Hard difficulty with Break Man from Mega Man 3 (also known as Proto Man/Blues) because I might be masochistic. Proto Man takes more knockback than Mega Man does, which screws him on more precision platforming segments than the Blue Bomber's knockback does.

Well, I know none of them. Or knew. I suppose I know now, having watched the trailers. The title "Metroid" is also quite familiar, but I've never played any of the Metroid games. Never owned a console, and never really been big on "console type games", or generally the kinds of titles you'd see on consoles.

In recent years, I've mostly done games like Civilization 5, Warlock: Master of the Arcane 1+2, League of Legends (a bit of an abberation from my usual tastes, I guess), Painkiller, Half Life 2, Factorio, and then a bit of retro gaming, which for me was games like Master of Orion (the first one), Populous 2, Lands of Lore, Total Annihilation.

But well, Minecraft has in the last 5 or so years been a title that I come back to with regular intervals. Most recently, I have been working on that aforementioned pyramid. I guess it might not sound like much, but it's a "maximum size" pyramid, which means it will be about 250 blocks high, going all the way from bedrock to the top of the map. That height makes all four sides about 500 blocks in length. It's... big. I've been working with it on and off for about 1½ years now, and I'm still not finished. I'm actually still digging the sides. But I'm on my last side now, having rounded the last corner a couple of weeks ago. I've dug out several million blocks in the process, and there's only about a million more to go now. When that's done, I can finally start actually building the sides (from about lvl 65 and up). That bit is actually not gonna take nearly as long as all the digging.

Once that is done... I may start hollowing it out. That's probably around 10 million blocks, which may be a bit much. But I think I'll leave the surface layer of the inside intact, going down a few levels in order to preserve some of the lakes inside. I will definitely be hollowing out the 10 most lower levels, in the hunt for diamonds which fuel all my digging.

So yeah... I'm set for a few years more with my fun little project. Good times!

Nope, I'm way, way, way more insane, obsessive and pendantic to do something like that.

See my above post for (insane) specifics. ;)

Actually, stone storage is all the rage for me.

(No, not cobble, but stone, since I'm primarily using a Silk Touch pick for all my digging.)

Bah. We haven't had a proper GNUG SMASH here in ages.

Anyways I don't think you'll get banned even when necroing threads here as long as you actually have something to add to the conversation. Then again I'm just a member so if you do get banned don't sue me.

Oh right... on the topic been doing Rocket League with a few friends lately. I suck at it but it's still fun, so what else can one hope from a game?

I just discovered there was a Battletoads arcade game, so I switched on my Retropie and... it was fun. Much more fun than the nightmare that is the NES version.

Fair enough, no reason to look that much into games for platforms you have no intent on using, let alone actually owning 'em. If I could, I'd recommend at least a handheld such as a Nintendo 3DS because you can take that anywhere you like... Within reason, of course. It's perfectly fine if that simply does not interest you at all, though. Just putting the idea out there.

That sounds like one hell of a project, by the way. I don't think I'd have the patience to build something quite that massive, at least on Survival mode. I've always been something of a minimalist in Survival Minecraft.
