Again, are you talking about insulting the belief or the individual?

And does every single Christian you know use the same individualistic/belief scale? Meaning, how much of a belief does that person think makes up who or what that individual is? I could talk to one Christian that thinks that talking about the resurrection, and it's logical problems, are an insult to his belief. Then I could go talk to another Christian that thinks that is an out right attack on their individual being. Then that individual would go tell other believers that the mean atheist attacked their being because he presented logical inconsistencies with the resurrection. I realize that the argument is one of a slippery slope variety but I think that some people fail to realize the distinction between a belief that an individual holds and the individual being itself.

Do you ask questions to clarify the belief or do you go after the individual because he made a statement? It seems one potential solution is based on the rational inquiry of that belief and the other solution is based on some sort of retribution practice. It also appears that some people automatically go for the latter option, which I feel is inconsistent with a compassionate individual.

The belief. If you listened, I was talking about sweeping generalized insults made about large numbers of people based on them holding a belief that someone disagreed with.

Once again the rest of your post is irrelevant. I know you WANT to talk about "It's OK to disagree with person X because he said silly things," but that's not what I'm talking about.

I think I said as much as I wanted to on the show but I'll sum it up thusly:

"Christianity is fucking stupid" is fine. "Christians are fucking stupid" isn't. But it's better to be more informed than both of those.
