If I could, I'd recommend at least a handheld such as a Nintendo 3DS because you can take that anywhere you like... Within reason, of course. It's perfectly fine if that simply does not interest you at all, though. Just putting the idea out there.

For some reason, I've never been much of an "action-game" guy. And I really do need me a mouse and keyboard when I play. I can't stand controllers.

I guess it's a bit of a chicken/egg thing whether my dislike for controllers/lack-of-keyboard-and-mouse shaped my dislike for "controller-favored" games, or if it's the other way around. Or if it's even any of those.

Akamia wrote:That sounds like one hell of a project, by the way. I don't think I'd have the patience to build something quite that massive, at least on Survival mode. I've always been something of a minimalist in Survival Minecraft.

Well, I guess it's a lot like one of those "huge landscape with model trains in the basement" kind of things. I love to just dig away mindlessly (mostly) while relaxing and watching vids on my other monitor. It's a nice way to unwind and still feel as if you're working on something. :)

Oh, and it had to be survival. Digging all that stuff away on survival would have taken ages. No, you need a Beacon with Haste II running with an Efficiency V pick to really get the digging speed you need.

Could be either way. I actually loved controllers even before I actually owned one. I grew up on the Sonic & Knuckles Collection for PC, which is a port of the Genesis titles Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the last of which I consider to be the true Sonic the Hedgehog 3 because that's what was supposed to happen in development, but deadlines didn't allow that. So a workaround had to be made. I also grew up playing MechWarrior 2 and MechWarrior 4, which I love to this day.

Nowadays, I play lots of controller-favored games, and I almost never play sidescrolling platformers without one. You'll likely never see me playing a Mega Man fan-game – Classic Series style or otherwise – without at least a USB NES (or SNES, if it's based on Mega Man X) controller. I even play most of the FPS games I have on Steam like Team Fortress 2 with the Steam Controller. MMORPGs like World of Warcraft and RTS games like Starcraft 2 get the keyboard-and-mouse treatment from me, though, mostly because I wouldn't know how to translate those into a useful control scheme on any of my controllers; in Hearthstone's case, I pretty much exclusively play on my iPad, so keyboards and controllers aren't an issue.

That does make things a lot easier. I usually don't make enough progress in my worlds to do most of that.

In other news, I'm gonna be seeing a movie today. When I get home, I'll probably be making an attempt to beat Mega Man Zero 4. I've put that game off for a while, and I don't know why; Mega Man Zero is my favorite series of Mega Man games, even if there are only four games in it.

Post Re: What are you playing right now?

Playing Monster Hunter Generations again, grinding for Heavy Armor Spheres to finish upgrading my Varia Suit. Also, apparently this month's Event Quests are supposed to be coming out today, among them a Mega Man-related one, so I'm gonna go for that and hope that the Mega Man armor set for the Felynes is better than the set I'm currently running with them.

I've also been brushing up on my Super Smash Bros. skills. I'm still pretty awful at the game, but at least I was able to beat my Mega Man amiibo at a couple of ditto matches.

EDIT: As I feared, the Mega Man armor set is significantly inferior to the set I'm currently running with my Felynes. I'm not wasting my time on it. At least I finished upgrading my Varia Suit, so now I can concentrate on hunting other things. Maybe the Alatreon has some nice armor and weapons...

Post Re: What are you playing right now?

Spent a few hours playing Starcraft II for the first time since my first day playing it around 2 years ago. I love this game, I don't know why I ever stopped... Bought the expansions, too. I desperately needed a good real-time strategy game in my life, and because I've been running a Mac since October 2014, I can no longer play my old favorite, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. I can't play my other favorite, Supreme Commander 2, on a Mac either. Oh well, Starcraft II is a great game, so I'm happy with it.

Keep me updated on the BF. I've been looking for a new FPS since COD4. I'm starting to lose hope.

Post Re: What are you playing right now?

Played some more Starcraft II, this time a 2vAI with my brother. We rank as Medium, apparently. Which is fair enough, I suppose.

I also started playing Sonic CD and Sonic 4: Episode II on my iPad. It's a bit unwieldy, but not unplayable. Feels good to go through Sonic CD again. I love that game. At least, I love the 2011 remake, which is what the iOS version is, as well as the Xbox LIVE and Steam versions. Never played the original SEGA CD version.

Also, I played a bit of Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition on my 3DS. I used to have some semblance of competence at it a couple of years ago when I played it regularly, but now I'm abysmal at it. I guess staying away from a fighting game for 2+ years will do that to you.

Post Re: What are you playing right now?

Slowly improving at StarCraft II, I think. Got into Bronze League, nearing the edge of Silver League. I no longer main the Terrans; became a Protoss main, demoting the Terrans to off-race. I dunno, I just loved the Protoss characters of Legacy of the Void too much. The Purifiers (especially Talandar) and the Tal'darim (under Alarak's command) are my favorite.

So yeah, I'm slowly improving at the game. I actually managed to beat some people. I need to be faster, though. ~30 APM is not good by any means, especially when you're required to out-multitask your opponent going 100+ APM. Speed is a resource of its own.

For Honour (I don't care how the game is spelled, I'm not going septic). It's had mixed reviews, and the P2P matchmaking isn't great, but I'm enjoying it.

Rocket League, in which I still suck but it's fun with friends.

7 days to die, which is one of those zombie survival crafting games which have popped out lately. It's still in early access in Steam but me and a few friends picked it up cheap in christmas sale. At the moment we are building a tower to Heaven in it, or at least as high as the game allows us to build just because we can. Note to self, make a sign at the entrance and write "Tower of Babel" on it. It's pretty fun to build ones base, to scavenge materials and wait for the blood moon horde to come every 7 nights.

Blackwake. Very very alpha multiplayer FPS with Naval Battles. Very fun and you have to work with your team on loading cannons, firing, making repairs. It's pretty action packed and you can be a pirate!

Sounds a lot like that Guns of Icarus game I saw around Let's Play channels a couple years ago, but with boats instead of airships.
